The Future of Multilateral KSE and Financing, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in collaboration with Sam Ratulangi University Manado has held a public seminar with the theme "Indonesian Economic Diplomacy: Indonesian Participation in the G20 Forum and the Results of the 2017 G20 Summit". The seminar held at the Manado Four Points Hotel was attended by around 200 participants, including lecturers and students from a number of universities in Manado, representatives of Ministries and Institutions, the Head of the North Sulawesi Provincial Office of Labor, and elements of the Regional Government and the private sector. Seminar panelists, namely Muhsin Syihab (Director of Development, Economy and Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Dr. Nella Hendriyetti (Head of Multilateral Affairs, BKF), Indah Anggoro Putri (Head of the Bureau of International Cooperation, Ministry of Manpower), Prof. Paulus Kindangen (Sam Ratulangi University Lecturer), and Daniel Tumiwa (Member of the Menkominfo Expert Team) in general agreed that the G20 forum as a means to discuss the direction of world macroeconomic policy was very beneficial for Indonesia. Specifically, the panelists also discussed two issues that were closely related to the interests of Indonesia in the G20, namely the digital economy and employment. In this regard, panelists view that Indonesia has a tendency towards interests that are different in responding to the development of digital technology and its impact on the world of work. This is due to the large number of Indonesian population of productive age, where the policy made by the Government must prioritize efforts to utilize this demographic bonus in the context of digitalization. Various innovative business models in Indonesia, such as Gojek, Traveloka, and Tokopedia, are seen to have opened new jobs for the community. This condition is slightly different from the position of developed countries that tend to see digitalization and automation as a threat to the employment of their people. Through this Seminar, the Deputy Assistant of KSE Multilateral and Financing, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Regional Assistant for Economic Affairs in the Province of North Sulawesi expect public understanding of the working mechanism of the G20 forum and the meaning of Indonesia's membership in it. This seminar is part of the outreach activities of the G20 Sherpa Office of Indonesia at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy to socialize the benefits of Indonesia's participation in the G20 forum to the wider community.
